Tanner Munson
Tenor
Tanner Munson, a highly versatile tenor, sings as a chorister and soloist spanning vast eras of repertoire. From the Baroque era to 21st century compositions, he brings a nuanced, high level of musicianship and vulnerability to each project. Tanner is highly sought after in his home region of Southwest Missouri, and is an emerging artist on both domestic and global stages.
Tanner's next solo engagement is Handel's Messiah with the Queen City Chorale. Recent solos include the Chichester Psalms quartet (Berkshire Choral International), Martin in Aaron Copland's The Tender Land (Ozark's Lyric Opera), Benjamin Britten's St. Nicholas Cantata (Rolla Choral Arts Society) and Rejoice in the Lamb (Springfield Symphony Orchestra). He is also frequently seen as a soloist with the Missouri State Chorale and will be featured on the ensemble's upcoming untitled album (releasing in Summer 2026).
In addition to Tanner's ensemble and stage work, he has prepared several recitals and competition programs. Tanner received 1st Place in the Classical ('24), Musical Theatre ('23,'24), and Contemporary ('23,'24) categories at the Central Region NATS National Student Auditions. Recent recital programs include a contemporary program (April 2024), musical theatre program (May 2024), and classical program (May 2025). When he's not on stage or in rehearsal, Tanner is an in demand voice teacher- running a private studio and holding part-time faculty appointments at Missouri State University and Southwest Baptist University.
He is a graduate of Missouri State University (2025), where he earned a Master's of Music in Vocal Pedagogy and two graduate certificates in Voice Performance and Choral Studies. He holds a Bachelor's of Music in Voice Performance from Missouri Southern State University (2022). Additional training includes working as a young artist with Ozarks Lyric Opera (2024) and being selected as one of the Frank Nemhauser Apprentices with Berkshire Choral International (2025). Tanner's home base is in Springfield, MO where he enjoys reading fantasy, cooking delicious meals, and walking to the local cafe.
